THIS tabletop for home + office are the hard goods kinfolk to the thread of inner silence: the khadi textiles of India. With their humble, everyday, and handmade spirit, these post-independence modern tabletop classics are comfortable in all contexts and cultures.
We offer pure raw metals: no faux, lacquer nor chemical finishes. In this way the unadulterated brass, copper, iron and bronze provide their unique properties directly to the user: brass is inherently anti-microbial, copper sanitizing, iron a blood enriching nutritive and bronze ayurvedically medicinal.
THIS metal wares are both hand-tooled and industrially-worked in studios by a progression of involved processes: Brass, Copper, and Iron products are cut from metal sheets and pressed on 19th century machinery, spun on vintage lathes, ground by abrasive wheels and subsequently polished to a fine finish. A select group of bronze goods are cast, hand-beaten, spun finished and coal fired – the same as it ever was. Our goods are left with the marks of manufacture: crimping marks, tooling lines, solder joints, et al. This is intentional. And perfectly imperfect.
THIS metals ship with a soft protective finish of hand-rubbed beeswax and mineral oil cream (100% natural & food-safe). Our cream slows down the natural oxidizing process, and, protects, preserves, conditions.
